Quin’s leadership identified a key gap—riders lacked a dedicated Ride Module for tracking, safety insights, and performance analysis. To enhance engagement and create a more connected experience, the goal was to integrate seamless ride tracking, real-time safety features, and post-ride analytics.

To make sure our design decisions were on point, we ran user testing with both new and existing users, watching how they interacted with the Ride module and collecting their thoughts to get a deeper understanding of their experience.

Optimizing the Ride Start Cancellation Buffer

The initial 10-second time buffer for canceling "Start Ride" was meant to give users enough time to back out if they started a ride by mistake. However, based on user feedback, we learned that the longer buffer felt unnecessary and slowed down the overall experience.

By reducing it to 3-5 seconds, we struck a balance between giving users a quick cancellation option without creating delays for those who are ready to ride.

To meet this demand, we introduced a Pro Mode for premium members, allowing them to slide along the path and check metrics like speed, elevation, and time at any given point.

This decision was driven by the desire to offer deeper ride analysis and enhanced control over post-ride data.

Many users expressed the need for a dynamic, interactive map to view detailed data metrics at different points along their ride path. To meet this demand, we introduced a Pro Mode for premium members, allowing them to slide along the path and check metrics like speed, elevation, and time at any given point.

This decision was driven by the desire to offer deeper ride analysis and enhanced control over post-ride data.
